We always like to have a treat for our youngest festival goers and this year is no exception as we’ve invited picture book author and illustrator Rebecca Elliott to lead what promises to be a super fun event…
Hi Rebecca, we’ve seen your lovely illustration on the Suffolk Libraries children’s library cards and we can’t wait to see you in June. What can we expect from your event?
Fun, drawing, stories, questions, inspiration, laughter!
Sounds perfect! We’ve been asking all our authors which authors (dead or alive) they would invite to a literary dinner party and what would be on the menu, tell us about yours.
I’d invite J.K. Rowling, Ernest Hemingway, Jane Austen, Plato, Maurice Sendak, Caitlin Moran, Stephen Fry and C.S. Lewis. There’d be a lot of wine and fondue and I’d just sit in the corner marvelling at their wit and intelligence and hoping no one enquired who on earth the host was.
Ahh but the host could do a lovely illustration of the occasion 😉 Now complete this sentence: I do like to be beside the seaside because…
fish and chips don’t taste good anywhere else.
SO TRUE. You’ve written lots but tell us what first got you hooked on books…
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
A magical classic. Just one last question: what are you looking forward to at the festival?
Meeting the kids, eating ice-cream and the ‘Writing Children’s and Teen Fiction’ event as YA is the next area I want to to break in to.
That is indeed going to be a fab event, as is yours! Rebecca’s Storytelling and illustration event is for 4-8 year olds (approx) and only costs £4, spaces are limited so book now!
