Five minutes with Tanya Landman

June 2, 2016 By HR 2 Comments

We’re delighted to be welcoming prize-winning author or junior and teen fiction Tanya Landman to Felixstowe. We caught up with her to give you a taster of what to expect…

Tanya LandmanHi Tanya! What will you be bringing to the East Coast in June?

A lot of funny stories about my two children, my pet pig, my two dogs and my cat (who thinks he’s a ninja assassin). And stuff about books too, obviously.

So if your pet pig, dogs and ninja cat were on their best behaviour, which authors (dead or alive) would you invite to a literary dinner party and what would be on the menu?

JK Rowling, Jane Austen, Harper Lee, Robin Hobb, Shakespeare, Homer  – how many am I allowed? I think a Hogwarts style feast would be good, but I’d want it served by Free House Elves.

Well of course, we’re signed-up members of SPEW*. Can you complete this sentence for us: ‘I do like to be beside the seaside because…’

That distance horizon looks so intriguing.

Very true. Although ours has a fair few wind turbines on it now – intriguing in a new way! Now tell us what got you hooked on books as a child.

Where the Wild Things Are (although strictly speaking, it wasn’t me that did the actual reading.)

A classic! One final question: what are you looking forward to at the festival?

Meeting the readers!  (and fish & chips afterwards…)

Yummy! I’ve seen Tanya speak before and can honestly say that she’s a delight! We recommend this talk for 12+ (and we mean + as Tanya’s books have really broad appeal!) Tickets are limited due to the lovely venue of Felixstowe Library so get yours now.

*Harry Potter reference – read book four to understand!

What an interesting interview to read. I am glad I have got my ticket to hear her talking. Her books do have broad appeal alright
