Something a little different…

April 27, 2017 By HR Leave a Comment

Hello Booklovers,

We always like to bring you events that are a little bit different and this year is no exception. Firstly, we have acclaimed artist Maggi Hambling coming to Felixstowe for a special festival preview event. Maggi will be talking about her recent book Touch which explores her works on paper. Join us at the Orwell Hotel on Sunday 11th June for this unmissable chance to hear one of Britain’s foremost artists.

Our 2017 festival kicks of properly (and in true foot-tapping style) on Friday 30th June as we welcome back Martin Newell and the Hosepipe Band. Tickets are going fast for this evening of music and poetry so get yours soon. And of course there will be fizz and canapés to really get us into the festival spirit!

This year we have a special treat for the romance fans amongst you. Our Afternoon of Romance brings you not one, not two, but three authors! Julia Jones will be thinking about Jane Austen as Chick-Lit, Kate Hardy will tell us what it is like to be a Mills and Boon author and Jan Jones talks about writing Regency novels and the Romantic Novelists’ Association. Of course tea and a scone is included in the ticket price.

The children’s programme always has more than its fair share of events with a difference and this year is no exception! Jane Hissey creator of the well-loved Old Bear Stories joins us on the Saturday of the festival for a teddy bear’s picnic – bring a blanket, lunch will be provided! Then on Sunday the Rapscallion Theatre Company returns to help us celebrate five years of the Festival and 75 years of the Famous Five in our interactive mystery event Five have Fun in Felixstowe.

There you have it, a few events to show we always have something a little bit different up our sleeves. We hope you enjoy them!
