About

In light of COVID-19  the 2o2o festival took place entirely online, for free, for everyone! We do hope you enjoyed our Live Streamed author talks and other online content as part of the 2020 Felixstowe Book Festival.

We’ll be in touch with news of the Felixstowe Book Festival 2021 soon.

About our festival…

“A good audience, lovely town, a great Festival!” Author Louis de Bernières

Driving home after an exciting weekend at Cambridge Word Fest, Felixstowe resident Meg Reid thought “why can’t Felixstowe have its own book festival? Why should other towns have all the fun?” Meg spoke with fellow book lovers in the town and realised that there was enough interest in literature to support a book festival.

With the generous support of local funders, friends, family and volunteers, Meg got the book festival off the ground, and the first festival took place in June 2013. Now going into our seventh year, Felixstowe Book Festival has become one of the highlights of the East Anglian Arts Calendar. One of our patrons, acclaimed author Esther Freud, says that we are:

“A flourishing festival, with a programme to catch the imagination.”

We are a bright and breezy book festival with a diverse mix of events that cover everything from politics to sport, crime fiction to romance. We exist for those who always have their head buried in a book and those who haven’t yet fully experienced the wonder of reading.

See you on the 26th -28th June 2020 for our winning combination of books by the sea!

“The Felixstowe Book Festival burst onto the literary scene in 2013 with a confidence, popularity and sparkle that made it hard to believe it was so new. For writers who took part, it felt like a much loved event that had been established for years.”
– Author Nicola Upson
