DESCRIPTION:Do you like funny stories? Writer Ruth Fitzgerald tried to write serious stories for years but everything she wrote turned out funny. She found this very frustrating until\, one day she had the brilliant idea of writing a funny book on purpose! The result was the hilarious Emily Sparkes series.\n\nCome along to this workshop to hear about how Ruth writes funny stories and creates funny characters\, then have a go at writing a funny story yourself. A guaranteed giggle-a-thon!\n\nWriting materials will be provided.\n\n[caption id="attachment_5741" align="alignleft" width="147"] Photo: Anthony Cullen[/caption]\n\nWhen Ruth Fitzgerald was six she wanted to be a writer but her teacher advised her to get a proper job. She followed that advice for many years but kept getting in trouble for giggling in management meetings.\n\n One day when Ruth was drinking a cup of tea (her favourite thing to do) a funny character called ‘Emily Sparkes’ popped into her head and started talking. Now Ruth writes books and stories instead of attending meetings and everyone is much happier\, especially the managers.\n\n Ruth lives in Suffolk with her family\, three chickens and a very tiny dog.\n\nAccompanying adults do not require a ticket.\n\nSuitable for ages 7-11.
