Sheila Wright is the author of several books about Suffolk people and places, also some wider ranging family sagas and biography. The books draw on conversations, interviews, local records, and other primary source material including letters, diaries, archive and war documents. She has an enduring interest in the experiences and events that comprise ‘ordinary’ lives: the hopes, challenges, temptations and small triumphs that beset every individual and make us who we are.
In this presentation, Sheila will explore the ethics of personal and family research – what to include or omit, and how to balance respect alongside the desire to tell a true story.
