What is poetry? You may have had to learn some and recite it at school or write about a known published poet like Wordsworth, Keats or Shelley but have you heard that popularity of poetry is currently on the increase in Suffolk? Felixstowe Café Poets provide a venue at which working poets of today can read their self – penned work and/or read and discuss known poets’ work. We are your local community poetry group and have a great time meeting once a month at the Orwell Hotel. Buy a coffee or cold drink at Harry’s Bar come into His Lordship’s Library and there we are 3rd Thursday each month (We charge an entry fee to attend our meetings).
We welcome lovers of poetry, writers of poetry, published or unpublished from Felixstowe and beyond. Meetings are varied, we sometimes have a set theme and sometimes not. We also welcome those who just wish to listen. We take part in Stowmarket Poetry Festival organised by Suffolk Poetry Society, May 28th (we are affiliated with Suffolk Poetry Society a very long established Society) and here we are again participating at Felixstowe Book Festival in June 2016. You may have attended our event at Felixstowe Book Festival in 2015. Don’t miss us in 2016. Sit back and enjoy the poetry and anything else FCP might surprise you with! Get your tickets early – we had to have extra chairs brought in last time!
