Esther Freud will discuss her most recent work, Stitchers, a play about the prison reform campaigner Lady Anne Tree and the men whose lives were changed when she set up a charity ‘Fine Cell Work’ to teach inmates, often locked for long hours in their cells, to do embroidery. Hand-stitched items by Fine Cell Work will be available for sale at the festival between 11 am and 2 pm.
