Rick Stroud will be talking about his latest book Kidnap in Crete, which tells the extraordinary story of the kidnapping of General Kreipe in World War Two and its consequences for the inhabitants of Crete.

Stroud draws on SOE reports and eyewitness accounts from Cretans involved in the kidnapping and 11-day battle for Crete. He gives a detailed description of the Nazi invasion of Crete, the growing confidence of the Resistance and of SOE-inspired guerrilla activity all over the island. Stroud makes use of the full range of sources and draws all the threads together to tell this incredible story, in all its complexity, for the first time.
