The Woodcock is set in a fictional coastal town and combines beautifully descriptive nature writing with an engaging exploration of relationships, secrets and the price that is to be paid for pleasure.

Richard is a one of the most exciting voices in nature writing. He contributes a monthly Country Diary to the Guardian, and his work has appeared in The New Statesman, The Times and BBC Wildlife.
